A Little Store with a Big Heart
McBurney Junction first opened its doors in the old Downtown of Langley back in 1998. It was a quaint little store that focused on reclaimed fir and custom made iron furniture by local artisans. It was a popular destination for local shoppers and its future looked promising. In 2000, Karla was walking into the store one day and saw a help wanted sign on the window and thought it would be a fun place to work. She was hired and began her short career as a McBurney Junction employee. It was short because within a month, Karla asked the current owner if she wanted to sell and when she said "yes", Karla, her best friend Nikki and Karla's husband, Reid became the proud new owners of McBurney Junction.
A lot has changed since then. The store has grown from a quaint little country store to a 2-storey lifestyle store with an upstairs furniture galley, two jewelry shop-in-shops housing two of the hottest jewellery brands available on the market today (Pandora and Thomas Sabo) and some of the most sought after brands in the world of home decor and retail giftware. What hasn't changed is Karla and Nikki's passion for retail and dedication to the store. They both still work full time, are passionate about bringing in new collections and keeping the store fresh and ever-changing.

played our hearts out tonight. And because we played our hardest I thought we did really well. But it was kind of a disappointing end because we played so well, but everyone put in their best effort, so I happy about that, said Broncos captain Taylor Alcock.
With the game completely up for grabs and less than a period to go, both teams stepped up their game which resulted in several very close calls. But despite their best efforts, neither side could get the goal to bag the win and the game went into overtime.
Fort Frances goalie Kate Parsons failed to keep the puck in her glove after catching a flying shot at her net. The loose puck was quickly found by Bronco player Rylee Smith who slipped it in to make the game 3 2.

It only took one minute into the third period for the Muskies to tie the game once again at 3 3 after a charge at the Broncos net and Shelly Tymkin found the inside of the goal.

Although Beaver Brae Broncos girls seemed to have the Fort Frances Muskies playing catch up for most of their first playoff game on Sunday night, Feb. 23, it was ultimately the Muskies who won the night with an overtime goal to end the game 4 3.
