"The way we hit depends on how the wind's blowing," said Halpin. "It was blowing in from left tonight, and we didn't want to leave a lot of fly balls up in the air, so we hit it to right field."
By the way, the Halpin vs. Swanson question will have to be put on hold until the next meeting. The line score from last week's game showed each player with four hits.
Former Edina West Cougars say it was Halpin. Former Edina East Hornets say it was Swanson. There are no videotapes to prove either case, but suffice it to say, they were both good athletes.
Halpin said the 35 Over league is, more than anything else, a night out with the boys. He added that he enjoys the friendliness of Nike Air Vapormax Plus Release Date
When Paul Halpin played sports at Edina West High School in the late 1970s, one of his rivals was Edina East's Jim Swanson.
"I used to play for the Cougars, now I chase 'em," said Halpin. "Jim and I have been going at it for years. This is my Nike Vapormax All Colors
37th year of slowpitch softball. I started playing when I was 15, and I have been playing in the 35 Over league ever since it started."
"Our defense has played really well this year," said Fricke, whose dad Mike and brothers Kevin and Brian are also on the team. "We looked like a circus a few times last year. This year everyone makes an effort to get here early and warm up."
"I don't have a knuckleball," he said. "I try to get the first pitch over the plate. If it's a called strike, I'll quick pitch."
Swanson's team, the Bruce Avenue All Nike Air Vapormax X Off-white Stars, was established in 1979. The idea was to form a team of men who lived on Bruce Avenue in Edina's prestigious Country Club District. In recent years, the team has brought in a few key "outsiders" to fill out the roster.
"No team has played us any tougher this year," he said.
Bunny's improved to 6 0 with the win over the Bruce Avenue All Stars. The league leaders are in first place by themselves just past the halfway point in the season.
Bunny's did a lot of damage with opposite field hits against Bruce Avenue.
"We've been on a roll this season," said Bunny's shortstop Brad Carlson, a former all conference hockey player for Edina High. "I am pretty much the rookie on this team most of the other guys have been here a long time."

"All the teams know one another, and no one gets on anyone else," he said.
First baseman Jeff Lau of Bunny's said the game against the Bruce Avenue All Stars was a good test.
of four Frickes on the Bunny's roster, said he is out there to throw strikes.
"Two years ago, Ken didn't walk a batter all season," said second baseman Guy Roach.
Halpin laughed at the idea of comparisons after his Bunny's Bar and Grill men's 35 Over Edina rec softball team beat Swanson's Bruce Avenue All Stars 14 11 last week at Van Valkenburg Park.

That happened in the game with Bruce Avenue and the result was a strikeout.
"We don't hit a lot of home runs," said Halpin. "But we're hitting the ball to the gaps pretty well and averaging more than 20 runs a game."
